The Estates’ Owners and Early History 

The owners of the Estates are John Richards and Preston Ford, both US citizens and residents of Massachusetts. Mr. Richards is also a long-time citizen of Belize, and introduced Mr. Ford to the Bullet Tree/San Ignacio area in 2005. The two purchased the first of the many lots that would comprise the Estates in 2006. The owners knew that buying and combining the several lots would take years (it took 15) and that no lender would want to wait that long. So, they made an early decision to avoid debt and use their own capital. The result is that the Estates are 100% debt free.

Debt-free means that the owners can develop the Estates for long-term beauty and value - not for short-term profit. The owners’ goal is simply for Mopan River Estates to be the most beautiful residential riverfront development in Western Belize.
